"This is a follow-up to my earlier review about the conflicting guidance I received regarding insurance for an out-of-state car purchase.
State Farm Agency Owner Jamie Bowman responded to that review with the false assumption that I had registered the car in Colorado. Since I do not live there, that is not possible.
After posting my review, Mr. Bowman called me. I did not request that he do so.
His manner was hostile, brash, and intimidating. He insisted that his position was correct and dismissed the guidance I had received from the car dealership and State Farm agents in both Colorado and Texas as questionable or wrong.
What unsettled me most was the way he spoke to me. This situation could have been resolved professionally, at the get-go, if Ashley Mayer at his agency had contacted State Farm colleagues in the other states and helped reconcile the conflicting information. Instead, his agency left that burden to me.
When Mr. Bowman called this past week, it felt more like a reprimand for posting a negative review than an effort to offer understanding and assurance—something I did receive from his colleagues in Colorado and Texas.
I ended the conversation with him shaken. No customer seeking guidance during an already stressful cross-country transition should feel berated or intimidated by the agency entrusted to protect her."

"While en route from Washington State to Texas, I stopped in Denver and purchased a car. I was stumped about how and where to insure it until I established residency in Texas in mid-September. My current address is still in Washington, so, as I explained to my agent at Jamie Bowman State Farm in Spokane, it’s a convoluted situation, and I didn’t know what to do.
The Spokane office advised me to insure the car in Colorado for the remaining time I planned to be here. So I called a Denver State Farm agent. Her response was essentially, “Hold up, let me investigate this for you!”
And she did.
She called Texas and then got back to me. The Texas agent she spoke with asked that I call her directly and advised me to keep my Washington State insurance until I actually move to Texas. When I spoke with her, she explained that insurance largely follows the VIN and that, since I am temporarily in Colorado, my Washington policy should remain in place until my move.
Finally, I thought, a definitive answer.
I called the Jamie Bowman State Farm office to explain what both the Colorado and Texas agents had told me. Instead of trying to reconcile the conflicting advice, the conversation became heated. I was again told that I needed Colorado insurance.
“Well, those states disagree,” I said. “They advised me to keep it with you at Jamie Bowman.”
At that point, the agent became agitated and finally said, “Do what you want.”
That was the most disappointing part of the experience. I wasn’t asking her to know the answer to an unusual interstate insurance situation magically. I was asking for help sorting it out. Two other State Farm offices took the time to investigate and communicate with one another. The office — Jamie Bowman in Spokane — that already had my business did not.
I came away frustrated, uncertain—and surprised by how dismissively I was treated when I was trying to make sure I was properly insured."

"I was a loyal customer for a couple of years. Ashley was my contact. I would not recommend. She’s punctual and a great communicator, but I feel she took advantage of me. I was told bundling a car and life insurance policy would lower my overall payment each month lower than the original car insurance payment. So, I trusted that and paid my dues each month for years. However, after doing the math, this was not the case. When I went to cancel, she didn’t listen to my wants and needs. Rather, she tried to convince me out of my own desires. That’s a con, not a sales person. I wouldn’t trust this establishment. I switched to Progressive, haven’t looked back."
